About PrayerPulse — Islamic Prayer Times

PrayerPulse is a free, browser-based tool that provides accurate Islamic prayer times for any city or GPS location worldwide. It fetches data in real time from the Aladhan API, a widely trusted Islamic prayer calculation service used by millions of Muslims globally. Simply enter your city and country, choose your preferred calculation method, and the tool instantly displays today's Fajr, Sunrise, Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib, and Isha times along with which prayer is currently active and how long until the next one.

The tool supports 13 different calculation methods used by Islamic authorities across the world, including Karachi (University of Islamic Sciences), ISNA for North America, Muslim World League, Umm Al-Qura for Saudi Arabia and the Gulf, Egyptian General Authority, Tehran for Iran, as well as regional methods for Kuwait, Qatar, Singapore, France, Turkey, and Russia. Using the method recommended by your local mosque or Islamic centre ensures the most accurate times for your community.

Live countdown and current prayer

The live countdown timer ticks down second by second to the next prayer time, making it easy to see exactly how much time you have left. The "Currently Active" banner shows which prayer period you are in right now. Prayer cards colour-code each prayer using distinct accent colours — blue for Fajr, orange for Sunrise and Maghrib, gold for Dhuhr, green for Asr, and purple for Isha — and clearly label each as active, next, or passed so you can see your day at a glance.

Qibla compass

Once prayer times are loaded, the Qibla section shows the direction of the Kaaba in Makkah in degrees from true north, calculated using the great-circle bearing formula based on your latitude and longitude. The animated compass needle rotates to point towards Makkah. This is a calculated bearing — for precise Qibla during prayer, consult a dedicated compass application with device orientation support.

Monthly timetable

The tool also generates a complete monthly prayer timetable for the current month, with today's row highlighted so you can quickly scan upcoming days. The table is horizontally scrollable on mobile for comfortable reading on small screens.

Hijri date and browser notifications

The Hijri (Islamic lunar calendar) date is displayed at the top alongside the Gregorian date, calculated from the Aladhan API. You can also enable browser notifications to receive an alert five minutes before each prayer and again at the prayer time — ideal for staying on schedule throughout your day without needing to keep the browser tab open.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which calculation methods are available?
PrayerPulse supports 13 major methods including Karachi (University of Islamic Sciences), ISNA (North America), Muslim World League, Umm Al-Qura (Makkah), Egyptian General Authority, Tehran, Gulf, Kuwait, Qatar, Singapore, France, Turkey and Russia. Select the method recommended by your regional religious authority for the most accurate times.
How do I get prayer times for my city?
Type your city name and country in the search boxes and click "Get Prayer Times". Alternatively, click "Use My Location" to let your browser detect your GPS coordinates and fetch times automatically for your exact position.
What is the Qibla direction?
The Qibla is the direction of the Kaaba in Makkah, which Muslims face during prayer. The compass shows the bearing in degrees from north. The calculation uses the great-circle bearing formula based on your location's latitude and longitude.
Can I get notifications before prayer?
Yes — toggle the Notifications switch to enable browser alerts. You will receive a notification 5 minutes before each prayer and another one exactly at prayer time. You must grant notification permission when prompted by your browser.
Is the Hijri date accurate?
The Hijri (Islamic) calendar date is provided by the Aladhan API, which calculates it astronomically. Note that some communities follow the moonsighting convention which may differ by one day from the calculated date.
Does it work without internet?
No — prayer times are fetched from the Aladhan API in real time. You need an internet connection to load times. The live clock and countdown continue to work offline once times are loaded, but refreshing the page will require a connection.
