How line charts work

A line chart plots data points on a two-dimensional grid where X values represent categories or time intervals and Y values represent the measured quantity. Each data point is positioned at its (X, Y) coordinate within the chart area, and consecutive points are connected by straight line segments. This reveals trends, patterns, and changes over the sequence.

Tips for effective line charts

Always show a zero baseline
