How temporary email works

Temporary email creates a disposable inbox on demand using the Mail.tm API. A random email address is generated along with a corresponding inbox on a temporary domain. Messages sent to that address are relayed via SMTP and stored briefly on the API server.

The tool polls the API every 5 seconds to fetch new messages. Each inbox expires after roughly 30 minutes, at which point the account and all its messages are deleted automatically. No personal information or signup is required.

Tips for using temporary email

Keep the tab open

Your inbox lives in the browser tab. If you close or refresh the page, the address is lost. Keep it open while waiting for messages.

Some sites block temp domains

Certain services block known temporary email domains. If a signup fails, generate a new inbox — you may get a different domain that works.

Check the spam folder

Most messages arrive within seconds. If you are waiting longer than a minute, some providers may have delivery delays. Try generating a fresh inbox.

Security and privacy considerations

Temporary does not mean anonymous

While a temporary email address does not require your personal information to create, the messages you receive may still contain tracking pixels, embedded images, or links that reveal your IP address and browser information to the sender. Some services embed unique identifiers in verification links that can be correlated across signups. For maximum privacy, avoid clicking links in temp emails unless you understand what data they may expose.

Third-party API dependency

This tool relies on the Mail.tm API to create inboxes and store messages. While we do not log or store your data on our own servers, the messages you receive are temporarily held on Mail.tm's infrastructure and are deleted after the inbox expires. Review Mail.tm's privacy policy to understand their data handling practices. For highly sensitive communications, do not rely on temporary email services as they offer no encryption guarantees.

Domain blocking by services

Many websites and services actively block known temporary email domains to prevent abuse and fraud. If a signup or verification fails, the domain assigned to your inbox may be on a blocklist. Generating a new inbox may yield a different domain that is not yet blocked. This is a common limitation of all disposable email services and is not specific to this tool. There is no guarantee that any particular service will accept your temporary address.

Inbox lifespan and message loss risk

Temporary inboxes expire after roughly 30 minutes of inactivity. Any messages in the inbox are permanently deleted at that point and cannot be recovered. If you expect a message to arrive later, plan accordingly or use a permanent email address. Additionally, refreshing or closing the browser tab loses the local inbox token, making it impossible to reconnect to the same inbox. Messages are only fetched while the tool remains open.

Frequently asked questions

How does temporary email work?

We use the Mail.tm API to create a disposable inbox for you. When messages arrive, they are fetched and displayed in your browser. No signup or personal data needed.

How long does the inbox last?

Inboxes remain active for roughly 30 minutes after creation. After that the account expires and messages are deleted automatically.

Can I send emails from this address?

No — this is a receive-only inbox. You can use it to receive verification emails, signup confirmations, and other incoming messages.

Is my data private?

Yes. The inbox is temporary and self-destructs. We do not store or log your messages on our server — they live only on the Mail.tm API and are deleted when the inbox expires.

Can I create multiple inboxes?

Yes — click "New inbox" to generate a fresh address at any time. The old one will stop working.

Why am I not receiving emails?

Some services block temporary email domains. Try generating a new inbox — you may get a different domain that is not blocked. Also check that you waited a few seconds for the message to arrive.

How often does the inbox refresh?

The tool polls for new messages every 5 seconds automatically. You can also click the refresh button to check immediately.

Can I see the full email content?

Yes — click any message in the list to read its full body. The sender, subject, and date are shown in the summary.

What happens if I close the page?

Your inbox token is stored only in memory. If you close or refresh the page, the inbox is lost and you will need to generate a new one.

Is this free?

Yes — completely free. The underlying Mail.tm API is free with no paid tiers. There is no limit on how many inboxes you can create.
